Vanessa Hudgens Auditions for "New Moon"

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens has reportedly auditioned for a role in New Moon, the sequel to box office smash Twilight. Ashley Greene, one of the stars of Twilight, broke the news to MTV.

Hudgens tried out for the role of werewolf Leah Clearwater in the film. In the New Moon novel, Leah is the only female werewolf in her pack, and struggles to woo another classmate (also a werewolf).

The role has yet to be officially cast, but Hudgens recently attended a Golden Globes pre-ceremony gathering with Twilight star Taylor Lautner.

Recently, MTV took a poll over who would be best suited for the role of Leah: Hudgens or The Suite Life of Zack & Cody star Brenda Song. The two actresses tied with 31 percent of the vote each.

The winner? "Neither," which took 38 percent.

New Moon is due for release November 20.
