Patrick Swayze Is in Hospital, and On TV
14-Jan-2009
Written by: Mic Mell

The actor is battling cancer, as his new TV show debuts.

Patrick Swayze may be dealing with cancer of the pancreas, but it isn't showing on the tube. His new show, The Beast, premieres on A&E this week, and he delivers a great performance as an FBI agent in the drama. The role is a far cry from his roles in Dirty Dancing and Ghost, and The Beast is a down and dirty show where moral lines are blurred. While the premise may be a bit contrived, Swayze's performance steals the show.

Amid all the hype for the show, Swayze is back in the hospital with pneumonia. He was admitted Friday. His mother told Us Magazine that the actor is "doing fine." The 56-year-old missed only one day during the shooting of the 12 episodes. With a prognosis of two years to live, Swayze is taking on life with an admirable vigor.

The Beast premieres on A&E at 11 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday.
