Taylor Swift Keeps Her Number One Spot on the Billboard Charts

Taylor Swift's album, "Fearless," has kept its number one spot on the U.S. pop album chart for its seventh week.

Reuters UK reports that Fearless has sold 2.3 million copies since its November release and has become the longest-running number one album by a solo female vocalist since Alanis Morissette in 1995 with Jagged Little Pill, an album that was at the top of the charts for 12 weeks.

At just 20 years old, Swift has been able to accomplish something that hasn't been done since Usher's Confessions spent nine weeks at number one, according to MTV. Swift has made quite a name for herself in the music industry since she released her first album in 2006 at the young age of 16. MTV has named the singer-songwriter one of their Female Pop MVPs of 2009.

Themercury.com says that Swift has the potential to be the next Shania Twain, Faith Hill, or Carrie Underwood.

Albums that followed Swift's Fearless on the charts were Beyonce's I Am . . . Sasha Fierce, moving up from number four to two, and Nickelback's Dark Horse, moving down from number two to three.
