Anne Hathaway Longs to Be British

The Press Association has heard that young starlet Anne Hathaway has always longed to be British. The Oscar-nominated American actress told the Mirror in an interview, "I used to want to be British very badly and to sound British. Having the sense of humor and natural self-deprecation would have been nice, too."

Hathaway spoke with a British accent in the film, Becoming Jane, but the 26-year-old doesn't think she would ever slip into the accent by mistake. "Having trained to do the accent and really found out how much is involved, I wouldn't now dare open my mouth and try to do it without at least a week of hardcore coaching beforehand," she said.

Anne Hathaway stars in the new film, Rachel Getting Married, that has received great reviews from critics. The film is in cinemas starting today.
