Ugly Betty Cancelled?

ABC benches Betty for Thursday night comedy

Just Jared reports that things aren't looking too good for popular dramedy Ugly Betty.

The series, which focuses on a normal girl working in the world of the emaciated and fickle at a top fashion magazine, is being put on the back burner at ABC.

EW reports that beginning March 26, ABC will be replacing Ugly Betty with episodes of Samantha Who? and the new Megan Mullally comedy In The Motherhood.

In the release from the network, it is said that "Ugly Betty will return to Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. following the run of In the Motherhood and Samantha Who?"

An ABC spokesperson added, "The Thursday night block is a good opportunity to launch these comedies. That said, Betty is a solid performer and there is no question that it will definitely be back to complete its season, just without repeats."

This indicates that Ugly Betty's return could have to wait until June.
