Gene Simmons Launches Record Label
Simmons has launched his new record label, Simmons Records, in association with Universal Music Canada. In an article on the label's website, Simmons identifies the label's goal as "to make sure that the next generation of world stars that emanate from Canada."
Simmons Records is looking for online video demos (YouTube videos, for example) from Canadian talent who want a piece of the action. The website does not make it clear if Simmons is looking specifically for something that involves face paint, but being Canadian is a definite must.
Another look at the label's website shows Simmons is almost immediately decrying naysayers from the media, posting an idolator.com article entitled, "Gene Simmons Is Going To Lick Up Some Canadian Bands For The Purposes Of Profit." He then posted a scathing, rock-star-like response to it that said, "Oh, and the asshole who posted the story? He gets no free tix, no backstage passes, and therefore, he won't have access to our parties and our girls."
It is not yet clear when simmonsrecords.com will feature any acquired talent but I hope it's soon. Right now, the label's website looks like nothing more than a Gene Simmons fan site.
