Jack Ryan to Go Digital, 15 Years after PCs Popularized

In "The Sum of All Fears", Jack Ryan, Tom Clancy's CIA hero, averts a nuclear exchange by communicating with the Russian President via internet chat. Now Ryan himself is going digital.

According to the Associated Press, Clancy, 61, has approved the decision to move most of his works from print to online. The first novel in the series "The Hunt for Red October" will be available for download Feb. 3.

Executives Laura Poco and Chris Smith of Amazon.com and Sony Reader respectively said, "Clancy has been in great demand by our customers."
