Christina Norman Is The OWN's Chief Executive
Christina Norman, the former MTV executive, is going to take the reigns of the Oprah Winfrey Network.
The most powerful woman in media will launch her network, which is a joint venture between her and the Discovery Communications, early next year in spring 2009.
Winfrey was hunting for a talent quietly since May 2007 when Discovery Communications (DISCA) CEO David Zaslav told Winfrey the idea of her own cable TV-Network.
Winfrey liked the idea the moment she heard it. "It's about living your best life," she says about OWN.
Norman was working for 17 years beginning as a freelance production coordinator and becoming the president of VH1 and also of MTV on 2005.
Norman will be the chief executive officer and will work in Los Angeles in coordination with the OWN President Robin Schwartz.
Norman will join the Oprah Winfrey Network on February 17.
