Lucy Hale Auditoned for "New Moon"
Another actress is running up against Dakota Fanning for the role of Jane in the Twilight sequel, New Moon. The star of the CW's Privileged, Lucy Hale, auditioned for the part; however, she may have taken a backseat to Fanning.
"Well, I did read [for the role of Jane]. We had some talks about it. But I think they just offered it to Dakota Fanning, the role I was interested in," said Hale to Twist magazine. "Which is great I'm a huge fan of her! So I think she'll probably take that. And I mean, as of right now, I'm not sure if it's going to work out. But I'm definitely still going to see it!"
According to MTV news, going into auditions Hale knew Jane called for a "petite blonde with a

[and] crimson irises. The dark haired actress does not exactly fit the mold of the following description. Although she may have similar characteristics to another character in the series, Leah Clearwater.
"I'd take any role!" Hale told Twist magazine. "Leah Clearwater, but I think there's already talks with somebody else. I think they've already offered it to someone. I mean, we'll see. If not, it's all good."
Rumor has it High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens has been offered the role of Bella's friend Leah.
"Yeah, I wasn't sure if that was true or not, but she'd be great for it," said Hale.
