Evan Rachel Wood Pissed At Press And Co-Star
If even Evan Rachel Wood thinks a man is too old for her, isn't that saying something?
What do you do when you're 21 years old, and people start assuming you're hooking up with your 56-year-old costar, who also happened to play your father? Many didn't appear as shocked when rumors came that Wood was "with" Mickey Rourke, 56, because of her recent liaison with Marilyn Manson, nearly 20 years older than her.
Lashing back at the recent reports that placed Wood in a post-SAG awards liplock with her on-screen father, Mickey Rourke, Wood gave her side of the story to Rolling Stone magazine. RS painted Wood as being "distraught" both over the rumors itself, and "the attention [the rumors] have taken away from the brilliant movie." RS also upped the friend-factor, illustrating Wood as a young woman feeling like she has "no other friend in the press to turn to."
Wood told Rolling Stone that she was "upset" and felt disrespected by "the press" at large and by Rourke, ostensible for not sticking up for her. She further went on to state that as a single woman, she felt taken advantage of, and was upset that "the performances [in "The Wrestler"] might suffer because of all of these distractions."
She also ended any talk of the supposed relationship, calling Rourke "too old" for her and not even attractive to her. Just in case he was listening, she added for emphasis that not only did nothing happen, bot "nothing ever will."
