Monsters Trailer Requires 3-D Glasses
The Super Bowl is going to air their first 3-D TV commercial: a 90-second trailer for movie Monsters Versus Aliens, Dreamworks Animation's upcoming movie.
Anyone eager for the trailer should get ready with 3-D glasses, which can be found at grocery and conveniences stores nationwide.
Jeffrey Katzenberg, who works at Dreamworks says, "We worked longer on this than anyone in the history of the Super Bowl four and a half years! The last time someone has actually run more than a 60-second spot at the Super Bowl was when Nike did it in the mid-1990s. We wanted 90 seconds so we could take the time and try and tell a bit of a story."
According to USA Today, 130 million pairs of 3-D glasses have been distributed via more than 25,000 grocery, drug and mass retail stores. The bill was picked up by Intel, a provider of 3-D technology for both the movie and the ads.
However, the viewers could still enjoy the trailer without 3-D glasses. Katzenberg said: "If you don't wear 3D glasses and you have three beers, it'll look like everything else you're looking at."
