He's Just Not That Into You Shows Dating In A New Light

The stars of "He's Just Not That Into You" talk about the new film, dish about their dating lives and give hopeful romantics some good advice.

The film "He's Just Not That Into You" is based on the advice-giving book by authors Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo. The book, and the film, focus on the famous scenario that just about every girl finds themselves in. Girl meets boy. Boy seems interested. Boy stops calling/won't answer calls. What happened?

The film's star-studded cast was present at the Monday night premiere held at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The nine leading roles are all familiar names in Hollywood, garnering a lot of press for the movie. Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly, Ginnifer Goodwin, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper, Justin Long, and Kevin Connely; could we ask for a better cast?

The stars of the film play the parts of characters with pretty shaky romantic lives, but their real-life dating scenarios don't exactly mimic their roles. Johansson, who recently married actor Ryan Reynolds, admits that she hasn't done much dating, according to USA Today. Goodwin also admits dating doesn't always work out too well for her. "The most romantic dates I'm ever taken on are dates when I go to meet the parents," she told USA Today.

It seems to be the men of the film who get deemed the bad guys. They're the ones shown not calling, not returning phone calls, and refusing marriage. Newsday reports that Connelly said the film starts out as a "man-hater movie." Barrymore, who is a co-producer of the film, is quick to defend its honor. "I don't like that term, 'man-hater,' or 'chick flick' either. There are two sexes. The movie might be a bit more female-driven, but it's about couples. I hope men will see it, too," the actress said, as reported by Newsday.

The Associated Press notes that Barrymore has one piece of advice for anyone entering the crazy world of dating. Be yourself.
