Will Ferrell Takes "W" to Broadway
According to the AP, Ferrell, 41, is starring in a new one-man show based on the last eight years of the Bush presidency.
"Probably . . . there's a certain arrogance he has," Ferrell said of Bush. "He's a guy who never grew up."
Partly inspired by real events and partly from Ferrell's own impression of the president from 2000 to 2008, the idea sprouted out of the minds of Ferrell and writing partner Adam McKay, who helped produce the manuscript for the show.
"It' basically a rambling, comedic look of the last eight years--he [Bush] is summing up what he did right and what he did wrong those last eight years."
The show is true to Bush's personality--and Ferrell's conception of Bush. In one scene, Bush describes his post-presidency as "free balls in boxers," saying that he can do anything he wants without scrutiny, even grab a can of beer.
The show premiered February 4.
