Soderbergh and Pitt Team Up for "Moneyball"

Soderbergh and Pitt are at it again, and if rumors are to be believed, their next film is going to soar out of the ballpark.

According to Daily Variety, the director of Traffic and the star of the Oscar-nominated Benjamin Button are in talks with Columbia Pictures to produce the film, an adaptation of Michael Lewis's book about a brainy manager of the Oakland Athletics, who used mathematics and computer analysis to put together a competitive--and reasonably paid--team that went head-to-head against titans like the New York Yankees.

Pitt and Soderbergh have been circling scripts of the film since last year, when screenwriter Steven Zallian adapted the film as a screenplay.

This is the third project this year for Soderbergh, who is touring Che, a film based on the life of Che Guevara. He recently completed filming on The Girlfriend Experience for 2929 Films, and a thriller, The Informant, starring Bourne Identity star Matt Damon.
