Jon and Kate Plus 8 Ð Walk in the Woods

While Kate's away, Jon gets to play. He decides to bring the children to the woods.

It's woods day for Jon and the kids. It's early morning and the children are running around the still empty house. There is little to no furniture and Jon hasn't fully unpacked the boxes. Kate was out to New York and he decided to take the kids out to the woods. This is actually the second time they went to the woods, but their first hike. He appreciates the questions that kids are giving to Jon. (ie. What is a squirrel? He has to explain what vines are, etc.).

Jon pours cereal and milk for the kids and while they eat, he sorts through boxes to find the right sized jackets. Jon couldn't find a coat for Leah so he decided to give her a ski coat. He considers duct-taping cotton balls on the kids as a jacket. Jon explains as time progresses, he noticed that the kids are expanding their boundaries; they test the "water" of the new house. Jon forces the little girls off the laptop and brings them to the woods.

Jon knew from the face that Joel, Aaden, and Leah would hate it. Leah called the whole thing boring and disliked the idea of tractors. Because of the big size of the new house, Jon can't leave Leah there.

In the Garage Jon had a place for sticks for the kids. Jon originally used the sticks to whack at shrubs and other things, but eventually the kids wanted one. Jon pointed out that one out building had a cat in it. They open the door to the building but the cat ran away. Jon decided that the kids couldn't go around with sticks poking the cat. It was too much of an angry mob chasing an outcast.

The woods. Collin started collecting random items as others start crying and whining. Jon knew that there were some kids that hated the cold, especially Joel who cried the whole way. There were some pre-made paths that led into a clearing, probably from the previous owner. Joel cries and falls. Jon spots a deer and tries to point it out, but with the cries of the children, the deer start to scatter. Jon decides to take a picture of the deer and makes the kids sit on a log. They took off before he could get a picture. The sticks cause drama and kids eventually hit each other. Eventually, Jon breaks Alexis's stick because she was poking everyone. Collin tried to gather sticks, but is only allowed one. The kids have to pee and they head back.

Jon gets the kids through the perimeter fence, but Collin loses a leaf and starts to cry. Somehow Jon has a tractor now and he decides to take turns with each of the kids. He gives tractor rides about twice a week (clearly, Kate doesn't like the idea). Surprisingly, each kid likes driving around. Jon feels like the tractor saved the day.

Somehow on the way back, Hannah finds blood on her toe. Although she freaks out a little bit, Jon realizes that it was from a past event.

The kids run around the house. Jon decides to teach the kids how to use walkie-talkies since the house is so big. Hannah screams at the walkie-talkie. The kids eventually got the process of hitting the button, talking, and then waiting for a response. Jon spends the time to make lunch. The kids melted down by lunch and most get tired. There is almost silence as the kids ate lunch and fall asleep while eating. Jon gives the kids banana bread for dessert. After lunch, the kids nap, play on the computer, and use the walkie-talkie.
