Christian Bale Comments on His Tirade

Star of "Batman" apologizes in a radio interview.

If you haven't heard it yet, do yourself the favor of listening to the profanity-laced tirade Christian Bale issued during the filming of "Terminator Salvation."

Since the audio leaked onto the Internet, spoofs and club remixes have poked fun at the seemingly-narcissistic star of "American Psycho." Even Stephen Colbert got in on the fun as the nation laughed at what was seen as the epitome of Hollywood self-centeredness.

Bale finally spoke out about the incident. In a radio interview with Los Angeles radio station KROQ, Bale apologized for his comments, saying "I was out of order beyond belief... I was a punk. I regret that, and there is nobody that has heard that tape that has been hit harder by it than me. I make no excuses for it, it is inexcusable."

Bale also went on to explain the rigors of being a movie star, explaining that he was "not comfortable with this notion of being a movie star. I'm an actor, and I don't know quite how to handle the movie star thing."

The actor also sounded regretful that others perceived him to be someone who felt they were superior to others on the set. "And the thing that disturbs me so much is that I've heard a lot of people saying that I seem to think I'm better than anybody else and nothing could be farther from the truth," He said. "I'm a lucky, I don't want to swear, I'm a lucky S.O.B., to do what I do. I never forget that and that is why I put so much into what I do and why I care so much about it and sometimes that enthusiasm just goes awry."

Bale explained his threats against director of photography Shane Hurlbut as "hot air," saying they resolved the dispute that same day.
