Peter Gabriel Mad about New Oscar Rules
Peter Gabriel may attending the Oscar's this year, but don't expect him to sing.
According to the Associated Pres, Gabriel, 59, won't be performing at the ceremony in an apparent protest against this year's 65-second rule for music performances.
Gabriel has objected to a revamped presentation of the nominees for Best Original Song, indicating that he could not in good conscience support the Academy's decision to truncate each of the songs and incorporate them into a medley.
Instead of performing, Gabriel has suggested that a church choir be put in his place.
Organizers have long been warning of changes to the format of the awards show, dating back to earlier last year.
Gabriel, along with Thomas Newman, has been nominated for his song "Down to Earth" from Disney's hit film "WALL-E."
