Winslet Won't Be Taking Her Clothes Off Anymore
It may be that people around the world will have one less reason to go see a Kate Winslet movie from now on.
According to "The New York Post," the 33-year-old actress has announced that she will no longer appear nude onscreen.
"I think I won't [get naked in a movie] again." Winslet reveals, "I can't keep getting away with it, and I don't want to become 'that actress who always gets her kit off.'"
Winslet has so far appeared without clothes in 10 motion pictures. Her most well-known nude moment came as part of her breakthrough-role in the blockbuster 1997 film "Titanic;" a scene in which she was sketched by a young Leonardo DiCaprio while wearing nothing but a diamond necklace.
Winslet managed to keep her clothes on in "Revolutionary Road," the movie that reunited her with DiCaprio last year, but did spend a lot of time naked in "The Reader," a film about a possible war-criminal who has an affair with a much younger student, also released in 2008.
Although her many appearances in the buff have earned her honors like MrSkin.com's "Lifetime Skinchievement" award, Winslet is well-respected in the motion picture industry for more than just taking her clothes off. Since 1996, she has been nominated for a total of 6 Academy Awards for acting, including a nomination this year for her role in "The Reader." She also took home two awards at the Golden Globes this year, one Best Supporting Actress trophy for "The Reader," and a Best Actress statuette for "Revolutionary Road."
