Nelly and Co. Betting the House on Vegas Reality Show

Rapper Nelly is a betting man. But when he decided to do a variety show in Vegas with production company 25/7, it proved to be the biggest gamble of all. Whether he'll pull it off is another question altogether.

According to Daily Variety, Nelly's Night in Vegas is currently being pitched to several TV networks. The show is described as a poppy version of the talk and variety format, with a little bit of a hip-hop edge.

Said Nelly, "I was thinking about what was missing on TV, and when the idea came about, it made sense for me."

Producer David Broome, of 25/7 Productions, is said to be on board, and The Daily Show's Madeline Steinberg will co-produce.

The show will be filmed at the Planet Hollywood hotel in Las Vegas. Other sponsors will be revealed as developments unfold.

Nelly's Night in Vegas is the rapper's first foray into network TV. The performer--real name Cornell Iral Hayes, Jr.--has sold over 20 million albums. Prior to the upcoming show, he appeared in cameo roles on CSI: NY.
