Hugh Jackman Hosts Oscars
People magazine claims he's the Sexiest Man Alive and now, Hugh Jackman going to be the host of the Oscars.
The Australian actor will host the 81st Annual Academy Awards which airs on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. This year the award show is taking a different approach gearing away from the previous big-name comedians such as Ellen DeGeneres in 2007 and Jon Stewart in 2006.
According to The Age, the Oscars this year is supposed to be unlike any other. To change things up a bit, there are new producers, directors and set designers. Since ratings have not been doing so well, they needed a fresh new look and idea.
Producers Laurence Mark and Bill Condon both agree Jackman will fit the mold of the new award show. They said to The Age that Jackman is "a consummate entertainer and an internationally renowned movie star."
Jackman told ABC News he's very excited to be a part of the award show. Growing up in Sydney, he used to watch the Academy Awards with his family and now he gets to be a part of it.
"I never imagined that I'd one day have the chance to be up on that stage myself," he tells The Age. "I am very grateful to the academy for giving me this opportunity."
