Twilight Threequel Confirmed

The third movie of the "Twilight" series has already been given a release date.

Twilight fans, mark your calendars. The release date for the third film of the series, Eclipse, has been announced. Summit Entertainment has confirmed that the movie will hit theaters on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, according to MTV.

The release date for the second film in the series, New Moon, which hasn't begun filming yet, is November 20, 2009. Due to the close proximity of the two films' release dates, they will not be shot back-to-back as other movie series have been in the past. New Moon director Chris Weitz will be in post-production while Eclipse is still shooting, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The juxtaposition of the movies' releases will prevent Weitz from directing Eclipse. MTV reports that the studio hasn't chosen a director for the third film yet.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will resume their roles as Edward and Bella, the movie's main characters. ExtraTV reveals that Stewart's character will have to make a decision between Edward and Jacob.
