Penelope Cruz: "Always Surprised to Win Awards"

Actress Penelope Cruz told Los Angeles Times reporter Sal Morgan that she is "always surprised" when she wins awards.

The Latin siren recently picked up best actress for her role as an unpredictable ex-wife in Vicky Cristina Barcelona at the Film Independent Spirit Awards.

"I'm always surprised when I hear my name, of course," Cruz said backstage at the awards. "It's a better feeling if you're surprised. I get very terrified about going up there, but at the same time you want to go, so my heart was going very fast."

She looked glamorous in a stunning brown Azzedine Alai dress with brown tights and punks. Cruz also recently donned an Alai gown at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

When asked if she would wear the designer tonight at the awards, the Los Angeles Times reports she answered, "I cannot answer that. That is a secret –- to tell what you are wearing."
