Nicole Richie: model mother?

Fascinatingly enough, Richie has basically been the picture of motherhood since the birth of her daughter, Harlow Winter Kate, about one year ago. Richie and her longtime boyfriend, Joel Madden, 29, will be welcoming another child into the world later this year.

Richie, 27, may be best known for her wild history, with bff (best friend forever), fellow socialite Paris Hilton. However, since becoming a mother, Richie has been noticeably absent from the wild and crazy social scene, opting instead to cherish quieter adventures with her young family.

Richie gave birth just over 13 months ago. Madden reveled in the joyous news, quickly posting on the Good Charlotte (his rock band) Web site:

"What's better than winning an Oscar? I am so happy to tell everyone that Harlow is going to be a big sister! God has truly blessed my family. Hope your all feeling as good as i am right now."

Madden relayed the happy news just in time for the Oscars, which took place on Sunday evening.
