Clooney Goes to the White House
George Clooney is revealing the philanthropist side of himself this week. Sunday night, instead of attending the Oscars this world famous actor met with President Obama to get help for the humanitarian crisis in Sudan's Darfur region.
According to USAToday, Clooney was asking Obama for a full-time regional envoy that reports directly to the White House. He recently visited Chad where 250,000 refugees are living.
"I think somehow we should all know that these people are hanging on by the skin of their teeth," Clooney said.
Clooney also asked Obama that the U.S. plead with China to focus on pressuring the Sudan to fix the situation. He also delivered the 250,000 postcards gathered by the Save Darfur organization to the White House.
Clooney appeared on Larry King Live on Monday and talked about his visit with Obama.
"I don't think people should be going there and coming back and saying how it affected them," he told King.
