Bruce Almighty Star to Be Sued for Negligence
Legendary actor, Morgan Freeman, is being sued for negligence by his supposed mistress. Demaris Meyer is filing a lawsuit against the actor in regards to the accident the pair had while in Mississippi in August 2008. In a news conference Wednesday, Meyer, along with her lawyer, Gloria Allred, announced her plans for the suit, according to thehuffingtonpost.com. It is not specified how much Meyer is seeking from the suit, which was filed with the U.S. District Court in Northern Mississippi.
Meyer, who denies the claim that she was Freeman's mistress, suffered a broken left wrist and several other injuries when her car ran off the road and was found in a ditch near Charleston, Miss. She is suing Freeman, who was the driver the night of the accident, for pain and suffering, permanent disability, medical expenses, and property damage.
"The accident and its aftermath has literally changed my life in every respect," said Meyer. The suit claims that Freeman did not obey the speed limit, keep control of the vehicle, and keep focus to the road.
Freeman, who won an Oscar for his stellar performance in Million Dollar Baby, has also starred in The Bucket List, Seven, and Along Came a Spider, and several other blockbuster hits. His publicist, Ken Sunshine, is "confident this will all be resolved."
