MC Hammer Get's a Reality Show
Is the world ready for the return of "Hammertime?"
Let's hope so, because early-'90s rap-superstar MC Hammer is back, although this time you won't be listening to his tunes on the radio. Instead, you'll be watching him and his family on TV on a new reality show being broadcast by A&E.
The show, appropriately named "Hammertime," will star Hammer, real name Stanley Burrell, as well as his wife, five children and two nephews, according to BBC News.
"You're going to see an American family in the current environment of America," says Hammer in an interview with the Associated Press. "College. High school. Junior high school. All the things that come along with family in day-to-day life, with the caveat that their dad is also a world-renowned recording artist."
Hammer hit it big back in 1990 with the smash-single "U Can't Touch This," which exposed his trademark dance moves and flashy fashion-sense to the world. By the late '90s however, his records were no longer selling and he eventually had to file for bankruptcy. Since then, Hammer has become an ordained minister, as well as finding a new audience on the web with his frequent, and popular Twitter updates.
"Hammertime" will premiere on A&E this year, possibly as early as May.
