Britney Spears Kicks Off Tour in New Orleans
Today marked the official start of Britney Spears's highly anticipated comeback tour. She performed her first show tonight at the Big Easy before a nearly sold-out arena in New Orleans, the Daily News reports.
It seems Britney Spears is finally reborn. Behind her are the days of a shaved head, visits to rehab and lost custody of her two sons. Fans are even starting to forget about her disastrous performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards where she moved around on stage listlessly and disorderly.
Fast forward six months and Ms. Spears is reclaiming her title of pop queen. She won several MTV Video Music Awards in September and her now-platinum Circus album debuted at No. 1 in December.
At the New Orleans arena, Britney Spears was set to dance and sing through a three-ring extravaganza, complete with jerking contortionists, freaky illusionists, manic aerialists and celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, who opened the night with a video montage.
Spears is scheduled to perform at Nassau Coliseum March 11 and 23, and the Prudential Center in Newark, March 13 and 14.
