Amy Winehouse Arrested Again

The British singer was arrested and charged with assault at a 2008 concert.

Amy Winehouse was arrested once again. The British singer has been out of the public eye and out of jail for quite some time now. She just returned to England on Sunday after spending two months in St. Lucia. Winehouse hasn't been home for even a week and she's back in confinement.

MTV News reported Winehouse turned herself into the police on Thursday after hitting a fan at a London show last September.

"Amy voluntarily attended a police station in London yesterday morning," Chris Goodman, a spokesperson for the singer, said in a statement. "She was questioned by appointment in relation to an accusation made after the Berkeley Ball last year. She was charged with common assault and will attend a court hearing in the coming weeks."

A Winehouse fan, Dancer Sherene Flash, claimed to tabloids that she was hit in the eye by the singer after asking for a picture at a Sept. 26 concert.

Police said that Winehouse was booked and released. She is due back in court on March 17.Winehouse, 25, is known for her perpetual drug use and struggles with serious health issues. According to MTV News, she has been writing songs for her upcoming album, although no release date has been revealed as of yet.

She plans to perform in America for the first time in years this April at the Coachella Festival in Indigo, Calif. The British singer had to back out of the scheduled 2007 U.S. tour due to "personal struggles."
