Rihanna Plans to Take the Stand
After being charged with two counts of felony assault on Thursday, many wondered if Rihanna would risk her newly rekindled romance to testify against Brown.
People magazine spoke to Los Angeles defense lawyer and former prosecutor Steve Sitkoff to ask whether or not Rihanna would take the stand. He reiterated the importance of her testimony, stating, "At this point, her cooperation can make or break the case." He adds that her testimony may not be necessary if Brown is willing to strike a plea deal, according to MTV.com.
Rihanna's lawyer told MTV News that the singer would testify if subpoenaed in full accordance with the law. Regarding Rihanna's relationship status she adds that now is "neither the time nor the place to discuss their relationship," according to MTV.com. "She wants to get on with her life and career," Rihanna's lawyer told the Associated Press. This case is sure to be highly publicized and the spotlight is on Rihanna just as much as Brown.
