Comedian Couple Splits . . . Again
Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel didn't let his breakup with Sarah Silverman get in the way of his comedic demeanor. Kimmel appeared on The View dressed up as former View co-host Rosie O'Donnell, according to People. Kimmel surprised Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd with his impersonation, but it didn't deter them from grilling him about his recent breakup.
When asked why he and Silverman broke up, he referenced his O'Donnell get-up and had no trouble laughing at himself. "Look at me. What do you think happened? I'm a 41-year-old man with a bra filled with Koosh balls. I'm an imbecile. She couldn't date an imbecile anymore," Kimmel told Shepherd.
Kimmel's O'Donnell costume included a wig, Capri pants, a blouse and clogs. Behar, Hasselbeck and Shepherd were amused by Kimmel's outfit and sense of humor, but Walters wasn't too pleased. People reports that Kimmel told Walters she looked disgusted, to which she responded that she had hoped he would be adorable, sweet and nice. She also told the funny man that she had never invited him onto the show before because of his sense of humor.
Kimmel and 38-year-old Silverman dated for five years before their first breakup last July, according to Newsday. The split didn't last long, and they were back together a couple months later. MSNBC reports that Silverman initiated the couple's second breakup, but Kimmel doesn't have an answer as to if it's really over this time. "I don't know, ask her," Kimmel said on The View, according to E! Online.
The couple, known for their hilarious antics and not being afraid to be the brunt of any joke, made fun of themselves after their first breakup when Silverman guest starred on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the New York Post reports. There was also the hit Internet video that Silverman and Kimmel put out last year about their fictional relationships with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, according to People.
Kimmel and Silverman first met in 2001 at the Hugh Hefner Friars Club Roast, Silverman said in an interview with People Magazine in 2008, to which Kimmel replied that they actually met at a party years before, but that he must not have made a great impression.
Kimmel and Silverman have certainly made an impression on the media and on their fans with their comic ability to make fun of themselves and each other. Will there ever be another Jimmy and Sarah, or will the two try for round three? "You know what? All things come to an end," Kimmel told the ladies of The View, according to Us Magazine. "I don't know what's going to happen."
