Jon and Kate Plus 8 - Trip to the Vet

Jon has to bring Nala to the vet after she eats a toy pony.

It's been three months since the move to the house. There are still faint yells and Joel can't find his computer game. He thinks it's still in the old house. Kate assures him that everything was taken out. Downstairs, Alexis plays with the dogs. Joel plays with Shoka and Nala. In three months, they got big. Nala pees on the carpet because she gets excited. The kids have to clean it up.

Kate appreciates her laundry room being close to the kitchen. It unfortunately is still too small. There have been many laundry hampers lined out. Near the tables, the boys and girls argue. (Boys shouldn't touch girls). They established that there can only be one child in the bathroom. Leah has trouble with a rule and gets upset. Kate prepares hummus for the children. She gets the hard boiled eggs ready, but the kids want them now. The little kids wonder why Mady gets granola. Kate makes the twins bring the dogs out. Kate points out that it's a big battle between the kids, dogs, and toys.

Flashback: Two months ago. There is a scene from back when Jon and Kate explain getting the two dogs for the kids. They emphasize about dogs possibly eating toys.

Back to today. While Kate was out on business, Nala was vomiting. The girls and the boys argue over a book. Jon tells the kids to clean up their messes. Although Shoka was okay, Nala needed to go to the vet. They had an x-ray done of Nala and there was a stuffed toy horse/pony in her stomach. They had to operate to get it out.

A few days pass. Colin and Joel explain to the cameraman that they are picking up Nala. While this happens, Shoka pounces on one of them and drives them into the rack of shoes. The kids then wander the kitchen, searching the pantry, looking for food, while Jon preps lunch. Jon explains that there are two bus stops for the kids (one for the twins and the other from the pre-school) and today was extra busy because they were going to pick up Nala afterwards. The kids struggle putting on their shoes and Jon gets them in the car. Shoka is depressed without Nala. Jon gets Shoka and puts him in the cage. He squeals to get out, desperately whimpering to the cameraman.

Jon picked up the kids from the bus and sent the kids to the vet. Jon gets the kids out of the van and closes the door. He quickly counts seven kids. There's no Alexis. He left her in the van. He puts the kids in the sidewalk and it turns out that Alexis was asleep in her seat. He wakes up Alexis. He tries to get the kids to be quiet, but no. They get a little excited and look at a cat in a cage. To prevent the problems, Jon and the kids are placed in the conference room. Dr. Wagner explains to the kids that Nala ate a toy. He pulls out a bag to show it to the kids. It's Hannah's pony. She gets defensive when the rest of the kids heckle her. He shows them the x-ray and explains the surgery. Nala recovered pretty quickly, but he explains that she still needs her rest. (Like that's going to happen in this house). They bring out Nala and Dr. Wagner gives Jon the antibiotics. He gives the pony back to Jon. He leaves by the front door (which scares Kate when she arrives home). Mady is upset that Cara gets to walk the dog. Jon stuffs all the kids and the dog into the van and drives off.

The family returns to the house and Jon lets Nala out of the car. She's instantly off chasing and being playful with the kids. Jon screams at the children not to chase Nala because she needs rest. Shoka and Nala kiss on their return. The two run around the field together. The kids look out the window and worry that Nala's stitches will rip off. Jon can't prevent the dogs from running around. Jon pulls out the pooper-scooper and starts collecting the poop outside. One poop has a chewie (the kids teething towels). There was a lot of snow, and after the snow melted, he collected them all. Post-snow, he collects it whenever he's out. He then has to check her scars daily. The kids are excited that Nala is back and all appreciate having the dogs.
