Amy Winehouse pulls out of Coachella
Singer Amy Winehouse has pulled out of her scheduled appearance at the popular Coachella music festival due to ongoing legal troubles in her native U.K., Entertainment Weekly reports.
Winehouse was scheduled to play at the festival on April 18 just before headlining act The Killers. However, her representative Chris Goodman told People magazine that her current legal issues would prevent the appearance. Winehouse currently faces assault charges after allegedly attacking a fan last September.
It is the second high-profile appearance cancellation for Winehouse. In 2008, the singer missed the Grammy Awards after being denied a work visa by the U.S. government. She ended up performing from London via satellite, and eventually won the awards for Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Despite this setback, the BBC reports that Winehouse still plans to perform during the 50th birthday celebration of Island Records, her label in the U.K. The celebration will take place over a week in May, and will also include performances by Keane, the Fratellis and Toots and the Maytals.
According to People, Winehouse's court date is set for March 17.
