Keanu Reeves revs up his engine for charity
Actor Keanu Reeves joins a true who's who as a participant Toyota Grand Prix on April 18. The charity event features celebrities such as Luke Wilson, Adrien Brody, Tim Daly, Raven-Symone, Jon Hamm, Tyson Beckford, Alex Trebek, Eric Close, Mary Lynn Rajskub and professional skateboarder Danny Way.
The 10-lap race for charity will be held on a closed 1.97-mile street circuit in downtown Long Beach, CA. It is the event's 35th incarnation. In 1977, auto racing fan Chris Pook staged the first Toyota Grand Prix.
Today, the race has evolved into a four-day event, taking place from April 16 through April 19. Besides the celebrity race, there will be a number of expos, numerous other races and two concerts starring El Tri and Puddle of Mudd.
The proceeds of the event will go to children in need. Les Unger, Toyota's national motorsports manager, said, "The Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race is win-win for everyone, because it gives fans a chance to see their favorite performers in action-packed real racing while offering the celebrities an opportunity to 'give back' to children in need."
