Real World: Brooklyn Ð Episode 10 Recap
It's evening and it turns out that Katelynn overdrafted her bank account yet again. She can't keep volunteering her time, she needs a job. The next day, Scott goes to a photographer. He explains to the photographer he wants to do high fashion. He gets a lot of weird clothes to wear, several looking like they fit in Zoolander, Scott is given eyeliner as well. He feels happy and confident. Back at the house, Katelynn steps on Scott to massage his shoulders. She feels like he's like a great, older brother. The two like bonding together.
The bell rings and a delivery guy has a package for the whole cast. It's an invite for the screening of the movie, Pedro, based off of Pedro from San Francisco. JD feels like he learned a lot about life from watching Pedro when JD was nine. I'm a little disappointed that no one is in the theater. The movie seems a little overdramatic, but I think it's the wording. Scott admires him, because he kept pushing, no matter what. Katelynn was moved.
Pete Griffin, from Think MTV, talks to the cast. Ryan explains to Pete that his town thinks it's a "big town" thing. JD is moved and touched. Pete explains Think MTV, which is about campaigning and outreach. He wants the cast to screen the movie in New York and hold a discussion. The people in there should be between 18 and 24. Chet wants to host, Katelynn considers as well. Ryan thinks it's ironic and a little wrong that Chet wants to host, because the movie is all about sexual awareness and Chet never had sex. Chet talks to JD about how he wants to do it; he parallels his experience with playing with fire and smoking. Apparently six of the eight houseguests disagree that he should do it. He storms out. Ryan walks into the gym and finds Chet upset. It hurt his feelings that the cast shot him down. Ryan reminds him the screening is about the message, not their careers.
The group sits together and tries to think of what each member should do. They decide to tackle hosting first. Baya, Scott, and Sarah didn't want to host. Katelynn suggests JD to be the host because his life parallels Pedro's and they decide to rotate everyone else. They then figure out what each person has to do. They decide to reach people from Queens and Brooklyn. JD and Chet look for a place to screen the movie. In the LGBT center, JD makes more phone calls.
Katelynn is going to be a go-go dancer at a club on Saturdays. JD jokes around that she should perform at the subway to make money. It's Scott's birthday weekend and he has friends over. Everyone gets prepped. Katelynn has to go to her dance-gig because she has no money; so she decides to go to Rage and dances in a cage. The rest go to the Town Tower and celebrate Scott's 24th birthday. Scott and Devyn talk about how depressing it is that Kateynn is performing and not there.
Back at home, Katelynn is excited about dancing. She likes how people look up at her. She feels better about herself and hopes to go next week. Tomorrow morning, Scott is pissed off that the girls still haven't cleaned the card table. Scott asks people to clean out the strainer. Devyn has to go to work, as does Katelynn. Scott screams at the girls to clean the card table. The two walk away. Baya talks to Scott about the situation. Screaming at the girls isn't the right thing. Scott is still upset about go-go dancing. Scott doesn't like that money is more important than friendship.
Katelynn talks to her mother about her overdrafts. She's never lived paycheck to paycheck before. As nighttime hits, Katelynn and Baya dress. Ryan and Scott talk about Katelynn. Scott wants to flip all the furniture upside-down. Ryan suggests moving all the furniture into the girls' room. They clean all the gross dust underneath. They chill in Katelynn's (and Devyn's) filled room for a little bit and walk out. Later in the night, a drunk JD walks into the house and gets confused. He looks at the floor for a second, knowing that there is something missing. He finds the couches in Devyn & Katelynn's room, sits down, and giggles.
Scott and Ryan hide out behind the spa. They figure, if the girls walk in and then they walk in, they won't be suspected. The girls walk in and find the furniture in the room. The girls actually like the idea. The boys walk in and the girls act all happy about it. Ryan knows that they are pissed on the inside.
Chet and JD wander into the New York Film Academy and ask about renting their film room. They then ask Ector from the LGBT center; Ector offers the center for free. JD, Devyn, and Scott decide on doing it at the center. Ryan points out the obvious: Some straight people may be a little nervous. Ryan knows that some won't go. Chet wants to do it at the Film Academy. JD points out the free and the resources. Chet points out that more people should be in a neutral area and that the gay community is more open. Although JD disagrees, he's outvoted.
Baya, Scott, JD, and Ryan walk around and flier around, for the movie. They get to talk to a lot of people and hope they come. Back at home, while Scott excercises, Ketelynn decides to play a joke on Scott. Chet looks up from the computer and watches Katelynn tip over all the chairs. Funny, Scott never uses it. He decides to take it to the next level; he takes all the dishes, bowls, and cups in the cabinet and locks it.
The next morning, JD and Scott talk about the girls. Scott reminds them not to mess with him and JD just smirks about the whole thing. The two walk around with shopping carts to go shopping for groceries. Katelynn sees the lock and Googles how to pick the lock. She is unsuccessful. Katelynn then decides to hide all the billiard balls.
Katelynn tries to move some of the furniture back to the living room. Katelynn explains to Scott how lazy she is. Scott confronts her about the dishes. He then decides to segway to his birthday. Devyn is on the phone and wants to interject. She comes in and explains that Scott is being the bully. She then goes back to the phone room to talk. Scott is still upset.
Ryan comes back from the film academy. Scott explains to Ryan about the dishes. Ryan parallels this to the army. He then decides to ration plates. They decide to search for the pool balls. Katelynn comes back to the plate idea. Scott and Katelynn continue to argue. They kind of make some weird trade for the pool balls for the plates.
It's the big day for the screening. The cast preps the food and drinks. They put facts and condoms on the chairs. They wait patiently for people to show up. No one really shows up. Pete shows up and no one was there. Soon the seats started to fill a little bit. JD is upset that they didn't do it at the center. Still, he stands up and opens the movie. After the second screening, Sarah was in tears again. They talk to the people at the end. After it's all over, they clean up.
Back at home, Katelynn's job ended. She talks to her boyfriend because she can't stay any longer. Katelynn talks to Scott and Devyn. Scott admits that he still cares for her. He wants to help her. She explains that she should go on Friday. Scott asks how much she needs, and she needs $1,500 for the bill. He is willing to give her the money, because she needs to be here to send her message. Scott hands her a check. Devyn admits to him when he is real. She is in tears. She goes to the computer room and hugs Scott in thanks.
Next Week: Ryan gets some bad news. He may have to go back to Iraq.
