Rihanna May Not Testify

TMZ reports that Rihanna may not testify against boyfriend Chris Brown, charged with physically assaulting her, due to privacy issues.

Is Rihanna really trying to forgive and forget her alleged physical abuse at the hands of on-again boyfriend Chris Brown?

Statements made by a source close to the 21-year-old singer seem to indicate that this is the case. According to TMZ.com, these sources say that her lawyer, Donald Etra, along with Brown's, Mark Geragos, "wants the judge to give Rihanna a pass from testifying because of leaks in the case." The case being referred to is the prosecution of Brown, 19, for allegedly beating and biting Rihanna, real name Robin Fenty, in a rented Lamborghini this past February.

According to TMZ, the lawyers believe that "Rihanna was compromised when her name surfaced as the alleged victim in the beating...this violate[s] her privacy rights and therefore she should not have to further put herself out…by testifying against Brown."

Rihanna's refusal to testify as the victim in the case could hurt prosecutions case against Brown. Rihanna has already, according to TMZ and other gossip sites, forgiven Brown enough to restart their relationship, even going so far as to reportedly record a duet with him with the guidance of super-producer, Polow da Don.

While Rihanna may have warmed back up to Brown, the public and the media still seem to want to see the formerly squeaky-clean superstar face some type of consequence for his actions. Several sponsors including Wrigley's Gum have dumped Brown. Petitions have been created and news anchors have led protests against his nominations for Nickelodeon music-awards. Multiple celebrities have voiced their opinion that if Brown did indeed dole out the alleged abuse, he should face strict punishment.
