Widow of Sammy Davis, Jr. Dies at Age 65
According to the Associated Press, Davis died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Her publicist, Amy Malone, stated that Davis was admitted Thursday after suffering from a stroke.
Davis was a dancer and actress. She mostly worked in Broadway musicals. She met the "Candy Man" singer when they performed together in the musical, Golden Boy, in 1967. They were married in a Philadelphia courthouse by Rev. Jesse Jackson in May of 1970. Davis became the legendary singer's third wife, and in 1989, the couple had adopted a son, Manny. A year later, her husband died of throat cancer.
Following the death of her husband, Davis was left to sort through his multimillion dollar IRS tax debt as well as his troubled estate.
A private memorial service will be held in Burbank, Calif.
