Adam Scott to Star in "Leap Year"

The world may not know Adam Scott . . . yet. But they will get a good look at him soon, and in a major way.

Scott, better known as the frustrated spouse, Palek, in the HBO series, Tell Me You Love Me, has signed on to star opposite Amy Adams and Matthew Goode in Leap Year, according to Daily Variety.

The story centers around a woman who travels to Ireland to propose to her boyfriend (Scott) on Leap Day, only to get blown off course by a freak weather event.

Anand Tucker, of Shopgirl fame, has signed on to direct. Harry Elfont and Deb Kaplan are penning the script.

In traditional folklore, women are encouraged to propose to men only on leap years. If they are rebuffed, compensation ranges from 12 sets of gloves--as in Denmark--or in the UK, a one pound note or kiss.

Under the Gregorian calendar--named after Pope Gregory XIII, whose papal bull intras gravissimas formally proposed the establishment of a Western calendar to distinguish Roman Catholicism from the pagan, Roman Julian calendar.
