Beyonce Promotes New Nintendo DS Game

Nintendo is releasing a new Nintendo DS game, entitled Rhythm Heaven (in stores April 5). In order to promote their upcoming game, Nintendo chose R&B singer Beyonce to do a television commercial.

Beyonce is already known to the world as a singer and actress, but many people may not know that she loves to play video games. Entertainment Weekly caught up with Beyonce on the set of her television shoot.

She explained to EW that while growing up she enjoyed playing games like Tetris and Super Mario Brothers. Beyonce remembered when she would sneak and stay up all night to play Super Mario Brothers on the Nintendo.

Another one of Beyonce's favorite games is Guitar Hero. When EW asked if she would ever consider creating a Beyonce version of Guitar Hero, she agreed.

"I would love to imagine people playing to my songs. I've actually played some karaoke games with the old Destiny's Child songs. It's so funny, because I don't get great scores. I'm like, 'How is that possible?'" she told EW.

In recent years, Nintendo chose unlikely candidates to be spokeswomen for their video games. According to MTV News, besides Beyonce the company enlisted other female celebrities such as America Ferrera, Liv Tyler, Lisa Kudrow and Carrie Underwood.
