Natasha Richardson's Autopsy Report Released
A spokesperson for the New York City medical examiner's office has revealed that Natasha Richardson died from a blunt impact to her head, People magazine reports.
According to the autopsy report, the blunt impact caused internal brain bleeding, which is what killed her, the medical examiner's office reports. However, it is still unknown exactly how she injured her head.
It is known that she fell during a private ski lesson at Mont Tremblant in Quebec, confirms Mont Tremblant representative Catherine Lacasse. However, Richardson was "lucid, talking, even making jokes," Lacasse told People.
According to Lacasse, Richardson claimed that she initially felt fine and declined to go to the hospital. About an hour later, she complained of headaches. That's when she agreed to go to the hospital.
An ambulance took her to Centre Hospitalier Laurentien, and later in the day, she was taken to Sacre Couer Hospital in Montreal, where she was treated in the intensive care unit.
On Tuesday, she was flown back to New York City where her family held vigil at Lenox Hill Hospital. The family announced her death Wednesday evening.
The Greenwich Village Funeral Home is handling her arrangements.
