Ellen Gets "O"

Ellen DeGeneres will be the next female celebrity to join Oprah on the cover of "O" magazine.

Comedienne Ellen Degeneres has gotten her wish. The 51-year-old talk show host will grace the cover of O magazine alongside the periodical's owner, Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey broke the news via Skype on Friday's Ellen DeGeneres Show saying, "I have to tell you when I first heard it about this . . . I thought it was such a fantastic idea. I was only sorry that I did not think of it myself. So I am calling to officially invite you on the cover of O."

DeGeneres had been campaigning on her show for weeks to try and get the honor. In order to help her cause, DeGeneres called Harpo, Winfrey's production company, and sang a song about O, had an audience member wear a sandwich board sign, and sold the magazine after the show's tapings. DeGeneres shared her excitement and told Winfrey that she will take on another challenge, "My goal is going to be for this to be the biggest selling issue you've ever had. I want that to happen."

O's April issue's joint cover with Winfrey and Michelle Obama was the first time Winfrey wasn't the only person on the front of the magazine.
