Sopranos Star Hits the Stage

James Gandolfini may be most noted for playing the role of Tony Soprano on "The Sopranos," but the actor has even more talent up his sleeve.

Gandolfini stars on Broadway alongside Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis and Marcia Gay Harden in Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage. The play is centered on a discussion between two couples about a playground fight between their children, according to the New York Times.

Gandolfini plays the role of Michael, a quiet wholesaler whose son has been hit by another couples' son. The two sets of parents come together to figure out how to handle the problem. Simple enough? Of course not. The discussion induces complete chaos between the two couples. Gandolfini's character is not much unlike his former role of mobster Tony Soprano, according to the Associated Press, which says that the actor holds his own against the other performers.

God of Carnage is Gandolfini's first time back on Broadway since 1995's On the Waterfront.
