Zac Efron to Star in "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud"
That's what he's betting on, according to celebrity gossip blog Zap2it.com.
Efron, 21, is in talks to star in the title role of Charlie St. Cloud in the adaptation of Ben Sherwood's 2005 novel. The movie will center around Cloud's relationship with his deceased brother, Sam, who regularly plays catch with him in the graveyard where Charlie works.
According to Daily Variety, Marc Platt, of Doctor Who fame, is set to produce the film. A trio of screenwriters are already producing a script for the film, and shooting is set to begin in July.
Efron signed on to the venture shortly after dropping out of the lead role of Ren McCormack in a remake of 1984's Footloose.
Prior to publishing the novel, Sherwood was a former executive producer for ABC's Good Morning America. He currently works as a blogger and hosts his own Web site, bensherwood.com.
