Madonna Returning to Malawi in Order to Adopt Again
Back in 2006, Madonna and her now ex-husband, Guy Ritchie, adopted their son, David Banda, from Malawi. The much-publicized adoption generated a great deal of attention in the mainstream media due to the fact that certain individuals harshly criticized the Malawian government over accusations that they bent laws that were in place to restrict non-African residents from adopting children in Malawi.
According to Reuters, an official for the Malawi Ministry of Gender and Child Development has confirmed that Madonna will be returning to Malawi before the end of this month, this time as a single mother, along with her adopted son, David. The same unnamed official claims that the singer has already filed the necessary adoption papers that would enable her adoption case to be heard before the courts as early as the beginning of next week.
Madonna has reportedly been advised by her Malawian friends to adopt a second child in order to provide David with a brother or a sister. Reuters is reporting that Madonna has been considering adopting another child but that she would only do so if she had support from the people of Malawi.
The biggest roadblock that may prevent Madonna from adopting is that she must convince the court that she possesses the capability to raise two children simultaneously as a single mother.
