Andre 3000 Arrested for Speeding

Outkast's Andre 3000 was arrested in his own home state of Georgia for driving 109 mph on a highway.

The Associated Press reports that the 33-year-old hip-hop artist was speeding in a 65 mph zone on Saturday just after midnight. Andre 3000, whose real name is Andre Benjamin, was taken to the Henry County Jail and was released after posting his $1,200 bail, according to TMZ.

Benjamin was driving his 2007 Porsche Carrera on Interstate 75 near Atlanta when he was clocked in going 44 miles over the speed limit. Henry County Police Captain Jason Bolton said that Benjamin's driving was "an accident waiting to happen," according to MTV.

The Grammy-winning artist blames his speeding on a mistake he made on the road. Police say that Benjamin told them he had missed an exit and needed to turn around, according to the AP.A court date is set for Benjamin on April 29.
