Comedian Wanda Sykes Gets Late Night Saturday Show with Fox
Actress and comedian Wanda Sykes admits that her relationship with the Fox Network has not been the best over the years. Approximately six years ago, her sitcom, Wanda at Large, was canceled by Fox within a month of the first airing of the debut episode.
However, the prominent comedian has officially agreed to do a late night Saturday show for the network and it is scheduled to premiere this fall. Sykes will provide a fresh face on late night television since most prominent late night talk show hosts, such as Conan O'Brien, David Letterman and Jay Leno, are white males.
According to Newsday, her late night show is rumored to be reminiscent of Bill Maher's HBO program due to the fact that there is expected to be frequent, heated panel discussion in a topical commentary format. Kevin O'Reilly, a representative for the Fox Network, expressed the network's exuberance over the fact that Sykes's sparkling personality will be featured on Saturday nights.
Sykes also provided a comment regarding her upcoming late night show, saying, "I'm married, so this was a great excuse to get out of the house on a Saturday night. Yes, my relationship with Fox hasn't been the best, but if Rihanna can go back to Chris Brown, I can go back to Fox. Oprah tried to talk me out of it, but I think Fox has changed."
