Project Runway Returns Ð to Lifetime
After a long and arduous legal battle, "Project Runway" has found a new home. Heidi Klum's show, which has gone without new episodes since October, will premiere sometime this summer on Lifetime, the Washington Post reports.
"NBC Universal, the Weinstein Company and Lifetime have resolved their disputes," NBC Universal stated in a news release.
The Weinstein Company, which produces the show, will pay NBC Universal an undisclosed sum to move the show to Disney-owned Lifetime, NBC Universal explained.
NCB Universal claimed that the whole legal battle ignited when the Weinstein Company moved "Project Runway" from Bravo, which is owned by NBC Universal, to Lifetime without giving them the chance to match the offer, as per its contract. NBC Universal wanted to keep the show on Bravo but the Weinstein Company wanted to move it to another network. NBC Universal then sued them for breach of contract.
The president and CEO of Lifetime, Andrea Wong, confirmed that Lifetime will indeed telecast the sixth season of "Project Runway" this summer. NBC Universal assured viewers that "all of the parties are pleased with the outcome."
