Easter Comes A Week Early For Children Nationwide

The Easter bunny hops through parks in Chicago, Illinois and Panama City, Florida, where children enjoyed activities, egg hunts and all-you-can-eat candy

Remember when you were young and could fit in 8-year-old britches and 9-year-old skirts? Oh, what we wouldn't give to relive our childhood years just once. Especially during Easter egg-hunting time.

Chicago Park Districts celebrated Easter events a week early, which will last through the following Saturday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. At various parks in the city, children won prizes, ate treats, engaged in face painting, arts and crafts, and had a chance to take a picture with the snowflake fur ball himself, the Easter bunny.

More than 4,000 people were expected to attend the largest egg hunt held today at Soldier Field, 1410 S. Museum Campus. The sixth annual event named, "Spring Egg-Stravaganza," where it's all-you-can-eat-sweets, began at 10 a.m. and lasted through noon.

Park District superintendent and CEO Timothy J. Mitchell said, "This is one of the few times that young Chicagoans get the chance to be on the actual field of the historic Soldier Field." In Panama City Beach, Florida, WJHG Channel 7 news reports that youngsters had premature egg fun this morning at Aaron Bessant Park as well.

But, it was no ordinary hunt. The Easter bunny along with the "Friends of St. Andrews State Park," hosted the occasion, specifically designed for special needs children.

According to WJHG.com, the kids' have to pair up in order to find paired eggs. Officials said that the purpose of the function is to show teamwork.
