The Beatles to Release Remastered Albums
The Beatles' company, Apple Works, and EMI announced Tuesday that the Beatles' albums will be re-released digitally remastered, the New York Times reports. The collection will be available in both individual stereo CDs and as a boxed set, both mono and stereo.
The set total will include 16 disks, the 12 albums the Beatles released in Britain from 1963 to 1970, Please Please Me to Let It Be, as well as American album Magical Mystery Tour and the two-disk Past Masters, a compilation of their non-album singles.
Although the digitally remastered compilation will not be immediately available online, Reuters UK reports that there is speculation the collection may be available for online purchase at some point in the future.
Beatles fans have been patiently awaiting the re-release of the legendary rock band's music. Coinciding with the release of the remastered material is the sale of the Beatles' Guitar Hero game. The albums were remastered at the original Abbey Road recording studio, using new technology with old studio equipment.
