Chris Brown Pleaded Not Guilty

On Monday, the 19-year-old R&B singer Chris Brown appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court and pleaded not guilty to the felony charges against him that arose from his supposed attack on his girlfriend, pop star Rihanna that occurred in early February of this year.During his arraignment, Brown gave his plea. After the hearing Brown and his attorney Mark Geragos avoided speaking to reporters. Rihanna's attorney, Donald Etra, did speak to reporters following the hearing stating how his client [Rihanna] hoped to negotiate a plea bargain before any hearings or trial, but if necessary will testify against Brown. Two felony charges against Brown state that he assaulted Rihanna, "by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury" as well as threatening to commit a crime "which would result in death and great bodily injury." A status hearing is set for April 29th. If convicted, Brown could face up to four years in prison.
