Buscemi, Tucci Seal TV Deal with Lionsgate
9-Apr-2009
Written by: John Winn
The two actors have long collaborated on film and on stage, but the boardroom is virgin territory.
According to Daily Variety, the Sopranos actor and the Winchell star, respectively, have inked a deal with the studio to produce scripts for film and TV.
"We expect to forge a long and lasting collaboration," said Kevin Beggs, chief of programming for Lionsgate. "Steve and Stanley are brilliant actors, and along with Wren Arthur [Steve and Stanley's business partner], talented filmmakers whose careers reflect the same sensibility that defines Lionsgate film and TV," he said.
The scripts will be produced by Olive Studios, the production house that Buscemi and Tucci run alongside veteran screenwriter Arthur.
Buscemi and Tucci are no strangers to being behind the scenes. In addition to his appearance on The Sopranos, Buscemi directed several episodes of the series, including the third season episode, "Pine Barrens." Tucci is no one trick pony either. In addition to his film career, he has made many guest appearances on TV, including several on Monk.
